FAQ

Miss Maudie's house lit on fire. She had the stove in the kitchen on to keep the plants warm and somehow the house ended up burning down. Atticus woke Jem and Scout up at 1 am to get them to help bring the furnature out from her house and across the street.

It was so cold that the fire engines has to be pushed because the engines couldn't warm up fast enough.

Mr. Avery got stuck upstairs (trying to throw a matress out the window), but somehow he got free and landed in Maudie's shrubbery.

A fire truck eventually came, but by then the house had already collapsed and the fire was extinguished.

Scout had a blanket on her when she came home, when Atticus asked her how she got it, she didn't know. Jem went crazy and told Atticus everything. Atticus' responce randomly reminded me of Mr. Bucolo. They concluded that Arthur came and put it on Scout when she wasn't thinking.

As for Miss Maudie, she seemed happy about the house burning down because she hated the house and now that the house was gone, there would be more garden space.
