Mr. Avery lived across the street from Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose. He sat on the porch every night until nine o'clock and sneezed. Once, Scout and Jem saw him pee, which Scout concluded he was better at than she was.
 
When the weather changes, Mr. Avery says that it's Jem and Scout's fault because when children are bad, the seasons change.
 
Jem made a snowman that looked just like Mr. Avery, but Atticus told Jem to get stuff from Miss Maudie to make it look different.
